Mr. Cook was born and raised in Levelland and Hockley County, TX, growing up on a farm north of town.
Following high school and college, he left the South Plains, embarking on a 40 year journey of work and adventure. Having become acquainted with both the great and powerful and weak and lowly; and witnessing both the best of the human spirit and worst of human nature has given him a perspective on life he would not have had otherwise. Returning home to the Plains, he picked up a lifelong ambition of photography under the tutelage of Wes Underwood at South Plains College. Returning home to the country where one can see the stars at night, peaceful and inspiring sunrises, the explosion of color of the sunsets, and fury of the storms and lightning across the plains, most of his initial emphasis has been on nature, landscape, and night photography. Recently, however, he returned to his roots, having grown up around rodeos, he has a passion for rodeo and ranching photography, and chronicling the labor of those who work the land.
